Gift of love from London to India :)

As it happens...

A couple of weeks ago, I was at the Renewal hostel (where homeless people are temporarily housed to get support before moving on out into the world outside) where I hold a Opening Heart Circle every Thursday evening. I had explained a little about my forthcoming trip to India, and shared some stories about the rag pickers and women from the tekro. The women already know about the story and journey of the humble heart pin so when I offered an opportunity for them to create something for the women in India, they didn't skip a heart beat and came forward with generous suggestions ranging from sending yummy smelling toiletries to clothes. In the end, we chose to decorate wooden hearts and attach them to key chains. A beautiful heart-to-heart connection, from women-to-women. We made about 30 key rings... they enjoyed the activity immensely and want to make more so I was ordering more materials.

An additional 30 hearts are currently drying at another women's centre I go to. Some are embellished with beads and sequins. Some are hand painted with words of wisdom.

If these gifts made with love by the underprivileged women here feel like they could work, I can try and have more made this week. And maybe...there's a chance I could get the women at the homeless shelter this Friday(30-50 women) to get creative. :)

Warm hugs from snowy London where we had our first snowfall this winter.
