Magical Heartpins

I finally got the opportunity to visit a residential and daycare center for the differently abled children and what a blessing it was to spend the morning with them.

Getting permission to make the visit was an answer to a prayer, hence, I wanted no stone unturned to make it the best experience. It called for quite many late nights of designing cards and writing messages. However, the heart’s desire was the heart pins from Wisdom Crafts. So, I poured my grievance (in an email) to the greatest wish fulfilling genie and the wonder of wonders happened!

Within few hours, 'Bodhisattvas' of concerned areas were contacted, who then put on their thinking caps and connected all the dots. Time, distance, place were no obstacles. Wednesday morning, fifty colorful hearts, lovingly packed arrived at my workplace reception well ahead of time.

As I pinned these beauties on the nannies, nurses and teachers who relentlessly give their all in service, hearts opened and smiles lit up faces. Most of them were teary (just as I was) to be appreciated and acknowledged by a complete stranger. One gentleman who was in charge of the boys could no longer adhere to the 'no hug' policy. So, as I offered him a heart pin, he gave me the biggest hug ever (just like a Servicespace family member). This was surely an icing on the cake!

The experience was an eye opener in many ways. Above all, I learnt the art of patience and care in all tenderness. As I left the center, I made a silent prayer of returning with more heart pins and a much, much bigger heart.

Wow Sunita, so so wonderful to read this. I'm never short of amazement to see how these small pins become such great instruments in connecting hearts - and HOW!! I will be sure to pass on this story to all the women who make the pins. It will be a gift and a full circle of inspiration :)

Your spirit to serve is so inspiring. Looking forward to hear more stories!
