First Anniversary Of Awakin Circle For Kids.

Posted by MANISH DINESHBHAI on Feb 19, 2019

Last Saturday we had our first anniversary of hosting Awakin circle for kids. In the last 12 months we have been hosting Awakin circle for kids, once every month. So far it has been a very organic and creative process and through a topsy-turvy ride, a community of 20 to 25 parents and kids have emerged :)

The process of hosting the circle is very simple and quite aligned with Awakin circles. We sit in silence for 30 minutes and then have an activity of 15 mins like storytelling, gratitude notes to Grandparents, Inspirational videos, circle of sharing on seed questions and we end the circle with a prayer before going to the dining table for snacks. Quite a few parents also join us and they engage themselves by volunteering for space decor, anchoring some activities, some come early to cook and also to serve. The whole atmosphere in general, manifest love in forms of smiles, hugs, listening, trusting, and caring for all.

After the circle last Saturday i was reflecting what I have learned through this circle? what does it mean to host and hold such circles? how it is rippling out in my life and my family?

It seems hosting this circle has changed me a lot and change the way we organize as a family. It has helped me to see life through “WE” orientation and service is gradually becoming more effortless. To connect with others has become very easy for me which was not the case before. The circle feels very sacred to me and keeps me wondering about the conditions which aligned within and without ,for me to host such circles at my home.

At the beginning my daughters Drashti and Manya hesitated to sit in the circle, my parents used to go out on Saturdays :) but this has changed for the good. And now Drashti decorates the space, arranges the cushions and organizes the room on her own without any instructions. And Manya actively participates in random acts of kindness & also volunteers for Karma Kitchen Surat. She also volunteered and actively participated in the one day retreat which we hosted for kids. My parents now hold space for us and be a witness to the circle.

It feels amazing to practice generosity in small ways and we feel deeply grateful to Servicespace and its design principles. We are also grateful to Surat Awakin circle host Pinal and Nipun for doing a very sacred job of hosting circle for last 5 years and inspiring us every week.

Lovely concept! I have supported a child in Muy Muy Nicaragua in the past. I visited her village and saw what type of activities the indigenous people of that country observe. Continue with your wonderful endevors regarding the concept of love...
