Villgro Yostra

Villgro partners with
Marico Innovation Foundation to fund Yostra Labs
Villgro is excited to announce a new addition to our incubation portfolio -
Yostra Labs, a Bengaluru-based startup developing several devices to diagnose and treat the complications of diabetes. The company is being funded by Marico Innovation Foundation, a driver of innovation in social and business spheres.
The growing threat of diabetes is well known.  Approximately 30% of the
diabetic population in low- and middle-income countries suffers from
Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy – 37 million patients with DPN in 2015 will
swell to 69 million patients by 2040. Half of those will develop foot ulcers
due to their condition. The poor are significantly at risk because of inadequate management of their condition.

Yostra is developing a diagnostic device called 'Sparsh' for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (permanent damage to nerves in the feet, owing to diabetes) and a treatment device called 'Kadam' for diabetic foot ulcers.
"Both our products have been developed specifically to enable mass screening of diabetic patients at primary and secondary healthcare centres and resource-poor settings making treatment accessible to patients from all socio-economic strata," says Vinayak Nandalike, founder of Yostra.

This funding is not only testament to Yostra's potential and impact, but also marks a new pathway for corporate funding in the social entrepreneurship space. We are excited to see greater corporate engagement with this development model."
