Isolated from the mainland, India’s northeast is the setting for a multitude of conflicts, from separatist movements, to inter-community, communal and inter-ethnic conflicts to territorial disputes. Plagued with poor economic opportunities and low levels of development, it isn’t surprising, that India’s North East has been a black hole for business and enterprise.
However, new breeds of social entrepreneurs are emerging who are questioning the status quo. For them, the Northeast is an untapped region for immense opportunities both in development and entrepreneurship, be it health, education, livelihoods, renewable energy et al.
