Dear Partner in Development,

Greeting from KKID!

We are happy to inform you that we are conducting 3-day workshop on "The Theory of Change" scheduled on "26 - 28 March 2019".

Theory of change(TOC) is the current buzz-word in development work.Currently the international development community(practitioners and donor alike) shows great interest in using theory of changes as the development hypothesis for projects. The reasons for this shift are many. Compared to other processes, like LFA,OOPP, ZOPP etc. TOC requires a more in depth causal analysis of issues---one that is rooted in a rigorous and evolving evidence base. Developing and using a TOC builds common understanding among stakeholders around the actions needed to achieve desired changes. Additionally, a TOC allows for efficient monitoring, learning and evaluation, based on a clear and testable set of hypotheses.

So what is it all about? theory of change is a tool to map out the logical sequence of an initiative, from activities through to the changes it seeks to influence; a mapping and dialogue-based analysis of values, world-views, and philosophies of changes that make more explicit the underlying assumptions of how and why change might happen as an outcome of the initiative.

At the end of the programme the participants will learn:

1. What is theory of change.

2.What are the components TOC.

3. Log Frame vs TOC.

4. How to represent a TOC(Logic model, Outcomes chain, Written Narrative).

5. The use of TOC for monitoring, evaluation, and impact assessment.

Having completed the course, the participants will understand:

1. Theory of changes as a product and a process.

2. Why theory of change has become so prominent.

3.How TOC, Logical models, logframe etc. relate to one another.

4.The importance of being clear about why change happens-linking pathways of change to programme theories.

5. How assumptions and per-conditions build up pathways to change.
