Failure Club

Do you have an idea for a "labor of love" project that serves the community? Would you like to be part of a circle with other kindred spirits, and help them while they help you?  Would you like to support a budding generosity entrepreneur?  If so, you'd be a perfect candidate for Failure Club.

A Failure Club, then, is a circle that celebrates failure, aspires for compassionate "moonshots" that seems outrageous or impossible (imagine Seva Cafe when it started), and builds a community of like-hearted people.

Lots of people who engage in "labour of love" projects are forced to give up on their vision simply because of a few missing pieces. We, as a circle, hope to provide a backbone of unconditional support that affords a project more time for its virtuous cycle of generosity to kick into gear. The offerings could include values-driven processes, frameworks that ask different kind of questions and hold space for multiple forms of capital, a diverse group of experienced mentors, and a kindred community of peers pushing similar boundaries.

About Failure Club

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously, you might as well not have lived at all. In which case, you fail by default.” – J.K. Rowling

Lots of people who engage in "labour of love" projects are forced to give up on their vision simply because of a few missing pieces -- most often, financial sustainability. However, when approached with a lens of various kinds of capital, the resiliency of an effort can be afforded a far greater timeline. We, as a collective, hope to provide a backbone of unconditional support that affords a project more time for its virtuous cycle of generosity to kick into gear. To that end, we provide values-driven processes and frameworks, a like-hearted community of peers pushing similar boundaries, and diverse group of experienced mentors, and some financial resources.

Failure Club is an experiment with an intention for its members to learn to play with fears associated with ‘failure’ while pursuing their “labour of love” projects. From the outset, failure is not only a highly probable outcome, it is the desired outcome. It is an opportunity to set impossible goals for oneself and amplify failure. And therefore, failure becomes a creative constraint to innovate and design a new matrix to look at the same situation.

Only through embracing the reality of what might be defined as failure can its’ societal stigmas be stripped away and replaced with an inspirational alternative. The idea is to rewire our brains to look at ‘failure’ as acceptable and even fun.

If we look at nature and its evolution process, there are certain seeds packed with nutrition, they grow naturally without much support. And as its roots deepen it creates its own resilient eco system to survive, thrive and support. However, some plant species might need external support as their own ecosystems might have depleted for various reasons. An external input such as compost cannot give perpetual resilience but it supports in redeveloping the ecosystem for future organic growth of different species. Our purpose is to serve as compost in these ‘labour of love’ projects. The micro picture is to support the ‘labour of love’ project and macro picture is to re-build a resilient ecosystem of love. All resources for the same will act as nothing but compost.

Briefly we can say that, failure club is a club which will go on experimenting with ‘labour of love’ projects -- If we are successful we step up -- step up till we fail and if we fail to learn from it, execute it till we fail again.
