This weeks Maitri Tunes is a contemporary quwwali from the recent hindi movie Rockstar which is dedicated to the highly respected 13th century Sufi Nizamuddin Auliya.

Recently on a peace pilgrimage to Shirdi to pay our respects at the tomb of the highly revered saint Sai Baba, I felt deep gratitude arising for all the Sufi saints such as Kabir, Rumi, Hafiz, Bulleshah et al. These beings walked the earth before us spreading the message of Universal Love and left their footprints in the form of their teachings, as guidance for us to walk back to our "one" home too.

Aaja Khaali Pan Mein Pee Ka Ghar Tera,
Tere Bin Khaali Aaja, Khali Pan Mein
"Come, take a step forward and dissolve these distances.
Enter into the beautiful empitiness of the divine Home, which is empty without you."
These lines from the song kept coming up in my consciousness as I found myself slowly moving in the way of the Sufis. The song was filmed the Nizamuddin dargah in Delhi, featuring Nizami Brothers, the traditional quwwals of the dargah. Nizamuddin Auliya stressed love as a means of realising God. For him his love of God implied a love of humanity. His vision of the world was marked by a highly evolved sense of secularity and kindness.
