On the occasion of The International Day of Forests, our friend Nitin Das, founder of Healing forests pens a beautiful poem called a "Walk in the woods" in gratitude to Mother Nature for her countless gifts.
A WALK IN THE WOODS
Take nothing
Leave nothing
The forest whispers
Enter my world,
as you've entered yours
Yet I search, for something
to fill my life with meaning
And yearn to be free
of thoughts that trouble me
I hear the breeze sing in the trees
I see the dance of the falling leaves
A gentle stream, shows the way
curving, turning, obstacles away
An open flower, draws a butterfly
A silent lake, holds the sky
I feel a tree in my palm
It fills my heart, with a quiet calm
Thoughts give way to feeling
and feeling,
gives way to being
I see the forest knows
peace like life, flows
From nothing
into nothing
Shinrin-yoku is a term the Japanese use to describe the practice of immersing oneself in the forest. Literally translated it means ‘forest bathing’. Allowing nature to cleanse the mind and spirit of negative thoughts and emotions. Reawakening your senses, rejuvenating your energy and adding strength to your healing ability.
