"Because we're more than biology and chemistry, we relate and connect -- and something emerges out of this that couldn't have come from you or me. AI generates in a very narrow way, finding new connections from old stuff. That’s different from true creativity. Data science is, by definition, in the past. This can be extremely useful as a mirror of the past, but not as an oracle for our future." --Srinija Srinivasan, Board Member at Stanford University
Just as social media hacked our attention, AI is now poised to disrupt our intimacy. In face of "artificial intimacy", how will we build pathways to deeper connection, richer creativity, and noble friendships?
On the relational spectrum of weak ties, deep bonds and noble friendships, our global center of gravity is around weak ties -- one in five adults don’t have anyone they can count on for help; 330 million adults go at least two weeks without talking to a single friend or family member; two billion people are so unhappy with where they live that they wouldn’t recommend their community to anyone they know. Such a context lends not only itself to vicious cycles of polarization but gives rise to market-driven technologies that amplify such a status-quo.
Instead of charting a seductive escape into the virtual worlds of a meta-verse, can we imagine a better party? A “metta verse” perhaps (metta is the Sanskrit word for loving-kindness). Instead of giving up on the messiness of human relationships, can we expand our threshold for equanimity, get creative with how we engage gifts of each person, and build systems that are regenerated by intrinsic motivations?
In this gathering, we will come together in the spirit of holding these questions and cultivating heart intelligence -- individually, collectively and systemically -- with inspiring heart-centred leaders from various sectors, including Nipun Mehta of ServiceSpace, Mekin Maheshwari of Udhyam and Flipkart, Hansa Vithani of VidyaNiketan School, Dr. Partha Talukdar, Manisha Dahad of Impossible Transformations, Sangeeta Saksena of Enfold India, and many others!
To join us in holding these uncommon questions around the future of relationships, AI and our shared humanity, please apply below. Hosted at the inspired JustBe cafe in central Bangalore, we invite you to co-create a sacred field of emergence!
The retreat formally begins on 10:00AM on Dec 10th (Sunday), 2023 and ends at Sunday, Dec 10th @ 5PM.
Through our time together, we will sit in circles to learn from each other’s experiments and challenges; hear and engage with some innovative speakers across sectors; engage in many group practices that nurture our collective inner transformation. Plenty of opportunities to engage the head, hands and of course the heart. Plus a few surprises!
Over the last decade, ServiceSpace retreats have brought together thousands of people from wide-ranging backgrounds. Perhaps what magnetized them was a simple organizing principle: We are not merely what we do, but who we become by what we do. If you resonate with the notion that inner change and outer change are intrixicably intertwined, and if you are moved to cultivate deep connections with kindred spirits, this retreat will likely speak to you! Beyond that, we'd recommend leaning on your heart's intuition -- more often than not, "heart knows today what the mind will know tomorrow." :)
If you have any questions, please contact us anytime. To co-create our sacred field of emergence, we welcome you join us!
