Inclusion Retreat: Dec 11-13, 2017

What: a 3-day retreat, from December 11-13, to continue the conversation broadening inclusion beyond economic terms. In particular, not only is "everyone good at something" that can be employable, but everyone can also be great at giving those gifts. Like the story of Ragu, examples from Ferose's book, and many we heard at last year's retreat.

Inspiration: it started at India Inclusion Summit in 2016, where one of the talks spoke about this idea that "Everyone can be great at giving". After that talk, several people with "disabilities" asked how they could serve. One of them was Priyanka, who was blind and asked, "Sir, I want to serve others but I don't know how. Can you help me?" As serendipity would have it, a local volunteer named Madhur was standing right next to her -- and they piloted some inspiring experiments. That was followed by 3-day retreat, which then led to a global 21-day challenge and a lot more.

Who: this event is primarily led by volunteers, like Gopal, Jaideep, Swara, Neerad, and Suchi, alongside guidance of friends like V. R. Ferose and Meera Shenoy. We are also grateful to have full support of India Inclusion Summit and Youth4Jobs, and would invite any and all organizations and efforts to join us.

How: our hope for the 3-day retreat is to build a conversation around how people on the disabilities spectrum can be supported in serving society while growing in selflessness -- an aspiration that all of us share. We hope to invite about 30 people from around India, tune into what emerges from our agenda-less conversations, and follow-up with suitable actions after the retreat. Having done many such emergent "Moved by Love" retreats, we are convinced of its capacity to build powerful ripples in a natural way.

Where: Naimisam, a beautiful retreat center on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Telangan.
