"The wind will carry the message. The birds will sing the anthem. The rivers will spread the movement." — Vinoba Bhave, when asked about his volunteer network

A SEASON OF SERVICE
This December and January, an unusual constellation of gatherings unfolds across India — retreats, residencies, farmstays and immersions, each held by a small crew of volunteers whose invisible service makes the visible magic possible. Rather than inviting volunteers to any single event, we're opening the whole season at once, so everyone can see the full field and choose where their heart wants to plug in. Some offerings need a full retreat crew; some need just two traveling companions; all of them run on the same fuel — small acts of ordinary care, offered with love.

THE OFFERINGS

Spirit of Service Retreat (Dec 3–6, Sughad, Ahmedabad) — Sixty changemakers gather for four days of head, hands and heart. The volunteer crew holds everything from kitchen to logistics to sacred-space design — and traditionally has as transformative a retreat as the participants. Up to 18 volunteers.

Ahmedabad Immersion (Dec 7–13, Ahmedabad) — The Winter Immersion cohort settles into a week-long residency woven with day-visits across the city's ecosystem of service. Traveling volunteers coordinate daily schedules with the immersion spaces and support the residency, through the send-off at the railway station. Up to 2 traveling volunteers.

Deepcasting Retreat (Dec end, Pavnar, Wardha) — Five days of collective sadhana at Brahmavidya Mandir, the ashram Vinoba founded, in circles with the elder sisters who have practiced together for sixty years. Volunteers support logistics and hold the container alongside a largely Hindi-speaking circle — comfort with Hindi is a plus. Small crew.

Surat Immersion (Dec 14–19, Surat) — The immersion cohort's second residency: spacious days, evening circles, and a sitting in Surat's weekly Awakin Circle. Traveling volunteers receive the cohort on arrival, coordinate local schedules with anchors and immersion spaces, and see them off to Coimbatore on the 19th. Up to 2 traveling volunteers.

Coimbatore Farm Immersion (Dec 20–23, near Coimbatore) — The cohort lands on the permaculture farm of Ragu and Nisha, long-time ServiceSpace anchors, in the foothills of the Western Ghats. Traveling volunteers receive the cohort on the morning of the 20th, coordinate the farmstay days, and send them onward to Pune late on the evening of the 23rd. Up to 2 traveling volunteers.

AI + Wisdom Retreat (Dec 24–27, FLAME University, Pune) — Pioneers of business and technology gather to hold the deepest questions of an AI age. The volunteer crew carries the retreat — joined, in a beautiful inversion, by the Winter Immersion cohort completing their month in the practice of laddership. Core crew.

Gandhi 3.0 Parallel Immersion (Jan 29–31, Ahmedabad) — As Gandhi 3.0 convenes, a parallel field of anchors and volunteers holds its own immersion alongside — a gathering in its own right, in the spirit of the stars that shine on a moonless night. 4–5 anchors + up to 15 volunteers.

HOW THIS WORKS
One form, many doors. On the volunteer form, simply check every offering you could serve, and tell us which one or two call to you most — we've learned that service chosen from resonance runs deeper than service assigned from need. And if you'd rather not choose at all, there's a “you name it” option: check that, and we'll place you wherever the need is greatest. We'll weave the crews from everyone's offerings, honoring first choices wherever we can, and each offering's coordinators will follow up with logistics, lodging and role details once crews are confirmed. Whether you can offer a full week or a single airport pickup, there is a place in this field for you.

In the spirit of gift. From meal prep to midnight airport runs, emceeing spaces to washing dishes — the practice of invisible service elevates these convergences in countless unpredictable ways. Financial advisors have joyfully washed dishes, CEOs have become charioteers, and meditation teachers have kept time during breaks. As Rumi said, "There are a thousand ways to kneel and kiss the ground."
