Honouring Commitments From Surat

A few of us joined Nipun Bhai in dec on a trip to Surat in Gujurat, where Parag bhai and Meeta Ben have created a wonderful community, which is truly ' Moved by Love.'

After a soul stirring talk on Giftivism, a few of us were interacting with the 200 plus people who were attending the gathering over a delicious Gujurati meal :)

A lady comes over to me and bursting with enthusiasm tells me how much she enjoyed the talk and how it has motivated her to do something she has been contemplating of doing, but has not taken steps towards yet. She said that her maid's daughter is getting married, and she would like to bear the expenses for all that the bride needs for the marriage as her act of kindness!

I was amazed at how quickly she wanted to convert her inspiration into action and immediately told her what a wonderful idea that was..she then took my phone number and said that when I accomplish this task, I will call you for sure.

Last week, as I was packing my bag to leave for Ahmedabad, I received a call from an excited lady..sure enough, it is Pinky Parekh, the same lady from Surat! She told me how she had gifted the young bride to be everything she needed for her wedding ranging from over 21 pairs of clothes to jewelry to household goods, and other things she would need for her new life..

Her joy in doing this act of kindness was so infectious as she spoke of how she felt that it was as if she was getting her own daughter married and could not see any difference in them.

I was amazed by her instant commitment to serve and then her honouring the commitment to call me once it was done..learnt an important lesson from a person who met me for just 5 mins in a gathering but made the effort to carry out her inspiration and connect once again :)
