A few of us attended an awakin circle in kothrud, pune this evening. Vaibhavi Agrawal has been gently tilling the soil of this lovely circle for the last one year and today they were celebrating it's one year anniversary :)
Vaibhavi moved into her new home in kothrud with her 10 year old son last year, and before she had even put all her things in place, she decided to host weekly awakin circles every tuesday at her place. Another friend Amol Phalke, who lives close to her house also decided to help her host the circle every week. Together, they started sitting in silence and inviting folks to join in the silence.
Today, also being Gudi padwa, the maharashtrian new year. They were reflecting on what the year has been for them, I could sense that they didn't have words to describe it and yet there was so much of gratitude in their being. When I asked Vaibhavi what had really shifted for her this year? her only reply was that the circles nourished her and she just wished to continue them without 'Bhaar'. She felt that they took place effortlessly and it was a miracle that they didn't miss a single awakin in the last one year as whenever she travelled, Amol took over the hosting and vice-versa. She felt as though they were silently happening in their own time and place and al those who were meant to be there, silently showed up at their door every tuesday evening.
The Awakins are now a part of their life, as is so with so many of us :) I couldn't help but feel grateful for this silent energy that brings us all together and binds us, yet free's us in so many ways.
Vaibhavi is a passionate gardner, and as we left, she handed each one of us a tulsi plant as a small token of her love for all the cultivation within and without :)
