“I believe in the power of visuals. We see into each other's lives - one frame at a time. I believe that imagery can be therapeutic to the ill, can inspire the uninspired, and can save the lost. I believe that because it has done that for me, on all accounts.”

“Photography, for me at its most basic level, is concerned with uncovering the truth of pure perception. We see something vivid and penetrating, and in that moment we can express our perception without making anything up—nothing added, nothing missing. Totally honest about what we see—straight shooting. One moment, one shot. Graceful Appearance.”

How do you capture beauty through a lens? Does it take a skilled eye, steady hands, and impeccable technique? Maybe there’s something more. But whatever it is, it’s something Rahul Pardasani understands deeply.
An engineer turned photographer - on the surface, Rahul’s is a story you might have heard about in movies. But this journey has been about delving into the heart of communities, becoming one with them and absorbing their essence. He then shares this essence with all those around him. One of his most powerful attributes is his ability to capture this essence with tremendous transparency. You might say it comes from an ability to surrender to what lies in front of him.
From the slopes of the Himalayas to the tribal families in the Gir forests, Rahul has always looked to capture the interconnectedness among us inspite of our diversities. He spent the last year visiting various slum communities in Ahmedabad. By accepting their smiles and gifting it back to them through photographs, or touching the lives of those far removed from them, Rahul has dedicatedly working towards providing alternative perspectives.
We were privileged to host Rahul at the Moved By Love terrace on the 18th of August, 2012 to share his insights on photography. For more insights, watch the video below:
