More than a year back I got a akshaypatra bottle from a friend, the contents of which have been given for various things in the past. this year, I wanted to use the contents for marathon. I just felt the strong urge to do this for the people running selflessly for the city and the causes.
A day before I emptied the Akshay Patra and with all the amount that it had, and I got cadbury chocolates. The next day I went down with 2 big boxes of cadbury chocolates and decided to give cadbury chocolates because I felt the the runners would be tired as my house is in the last leg of running. They wouldnt mind some sugar intake at this time and also cadbury says it better than words.....

I did not want to hand over the chocolates just like that. I started opening the wrapper, wishing the fabulous runners ....all the best, and lovingly handing out pieces of cadbury so that its easy for them to run and pop it in.. the entire time of opening the wrapper, breaking into pieces was taking time and we were losing out on some of our marathoners. seeing me struggle one passerby stood there and told me that she is going to open the wrappers for me. this made the process much faster and i could reach out to many more. one of my neighbour staying on the 3rd floor was watching this. she came down and stood beside me cheering the runners. i asked her that she could cheer and hand out the cadburys too.....she happily started doing that.
There was a mom and 2 kids who had got glucose for the runners. but the kids (probably aged 7 and 9) were just standing with glucose not going all out to give it. they were feeling shy. while giving out the cadbury chocolates to the runners, i also kept having eye contact with the kids and with my body language told them to step out and not to feel shy. the younger one just stepped up and started smiling and giving out glucose imitating us. very soon the older one got inspired by her seeing that her younger siblings glucose was disappearing fast and he started doing the same :)
It made me think, how sometimes we limit ourselves by our mindsets. Akshaypatra played a key role in bringing a smile and energy to the runners( not a single runner refused the chocolate and each one accepted with a smile, some even blessed us and some told us this is exactly what they needed. it was an amazing experience to see their faces getting revitalized by this simple act.
3 things that come to my mind....... number 1-a good idea always catches on.people know it, but sometimes they dont know how to do the good act. all they need is someone role playing it for them. number 2- akshaypatra helped so many loving, good people who through their own act of running, were helping the city. number 3- cadbury does say it better than words.
