HeArt Circle -- Kintsugi

With the current lockdown, many HeArtist were going back to doodling, dancing, singing, journaling, cooking, and gardening. A few of us thought, why not do it together and share the joy with everyone. After speaking to Vidhi after her recent virtual HeArt circle, many of us, including Nitul and Rupali-Didi, are moved to do a virtual circle. The HeArtstorming about coordinating our efforts has already started. And perhaps this ties in Karuna Photos, which Aum is now volunteering for as well. :)

For this Sunday, the overall theme that was coming for us for the circle is based on the concept of Kintsugi, which comes from the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, the kind of quiet, undeclared beauty that waits patiently to be discovered.

"Wabi stems from the root wa, which refers to harmony, peace, tranquillity, and balance. Generally speaking, Wabi had the original meaning of sad, desolate, and lonely, but poetically it has come to mean simple, non-materialistic, humble by choice, and in tune with nature. Someone who is perfectly herself and never craves to be anything else would be described as wabi. Sixteenth-century tea master Jo-o described a Wabi tea man as someone who feels no dissatisfaction even though he owns no Chinese utensils with which to conduct tea. A common phrase used in conjunction with Wabi is "the joy of the little monk in his wind-torn robe." A wabi person epitomizes Zen, which is to say, they are content with very little; free from greed, indolence, and anger; and understands the wisdom of rocks and grasshoppers."

Few thoughts for reflection are:
- One's transition from brokenness to the golden journey. A personal experience of something tender and valuable that you are/were holding currently has been made visible by the current churning.
- Another question that we are holding is how less makes us better. With the current scenario, all of us are managing with what we have. What does it take to live like a Wabi person; content with very little; free from greed, indolence, and anger; and understands the wisdom of rocks and grasshoppers.

The tentative outline of the circle is to start with 15 minutes of silence, 30 minutes of theme/art, and 45 minutes of reflection and closing.

Since it's a virtual circle, you're all invited to join the HeArt Circle and get your creative juices flowing. :)
